If you have not received your unemployment money yet, President Donald Trump says blame the Democrats.
The president tweeted Monday he wanted the federal government to pay people out work directly, but the Democrats “insisted it be paid by states for distribution.”
The federal government boosted the amount of money paid to unemployed workers during the pandemic. Unemployed workers are eligible to receive an extra $600 per week up to six months from the federal government, in addition to what their state pays.
Trump says it is the Democrats fault for any “lateness” people out of work might be experiencing in receiving “Enhanced Unemployment Insurance” money.
He said he warned a lag in payments would occur because many states have “old computers.”
Florida had to shut down its unemployment website for three days in order to catch up with the amount of claims people filed, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
The newspaper reported Thursday only 22% of the 700,000 Floridians who submitted unemployment claims have been paid.
