About time, someone was held accountable…maybe once fired, he will say who put him up to it. Billy Bush is out at “Today” multiple sources tell Page Six — but NBC News is carefully weighing when to make the announcement.
An NBC insider told us: “He is technically fired. It’s just a matter of time. NBC isn’t ready to announce it yet. They are negotiating his exit.”
Bush was suspended from “Today” on Sunday.
Another source close to the network told Page Six: “Billy is done. He is out, but they don’t want to announce anything yet because NBC was burned by the Ann Curry debacle and they are trying to figure out how to do this.” The source added: “They don’t have any incentive to announce this immediately. Each day that goes by” — and gets further from the Donald Trump scandal — “it gets easier,” to announce.
The source added NBC staffers fear there could be more damning tape of Bush than just his now-infamous “Access Hollywood” outtake with Trump. “Forget about more Trump tape, there could be more tape on Billy.”
Meantime, another source said: “Billy’s being pushed out — it looks like he’s going to get dumped — when the network has stood by people like Brian Williams who lied on the air, and was very publicly supportive of Matt Lauer after the [controversial] commander-in-chief town hall.”
