Donald Trump: Rick Perry Indictment ‘Absolute Disgrace’

Donald Trump says the indictment of Gov. Rick Perry is an “absolute disgrace,” and even liberals agree that the charges of coercion and abuse of power launched against the Texas Republican are extreme.

“He vetoed something, and he got indicted. Does that mean every time a politician, including the president, would veto something, you get indicted?” Trump told “Fox & Friends” on Monday. “It’s been covered as such by the most liberal of people.”

Trump said liberal scholar Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz “came out with a pretty blazing statement” about the issue, as well as “virtually every legal scholar.” Dershowitz told Newsmax on Saturday he was “outraged” by the indictment, and that it represented a “dangerous” trend to use courts to try to affect elections.

While the indictment has “waylaid” Perry’s plans for a possible run for the White House in 2016, Trump said he thought the incident could end up benefiting the Texas governor.

“Ultimately, this could actually make him bigger and stronger. The way he handles it is very important,” Trump said.
